How We Rank Platforms

Our methodology, independence policy, and update schedule for Bitcoin-to-Naira platform rankings.

Independence

No platform pays for placement on this site. Rankings are determined solely by editorial assessment against the six criteria described below. We do not have affiliate relationships with any platform listed. We do not accept sponsored content. Our revenue model, if any, is independent of platform placement decisions.

Ranking Criteria

Each platform is evaluated across six criteria:

  1. Exchange Rate Competitiveness — Effective BTC/NGN rate relative to global mid-market price and BestChange-listed peers
  2. Settlement Speed — Time from Bitcoin send to Naira arriving in destination account
  3. Transaction Limits — Minimum and maximum supported transaction sizes
  4. Platform Type Safety — Risk profile based on platform type: Automatic (lowest risk), Order Book (moderate), P2P (highest counterparty and EFCC risk)
  5. Regulatory Status and Track Record — SEC Nigeria compliance, other regulatory standing, years of operation, documented incident history
  6. Nigerian Payment Compatibility — Support for Nigerian bank accounts (GTBank, Access, First Bank, UBA, Zenith) and digital banks (Opay, Kuda, Palmpay, Moniepoint)

Platform Type Classification

We classify all platforms into three types before applying ranking criteria. Platform type carries the highest weight in our assessment because it determines the fundamental risk profile of any transaction: Automatic Conversion Platforms eliminate counterparty risk entirely; P2P Platforms carry counterparty risk and EFCC account-freeze exposure; Order Book Exchanges carry liquidity and timing risk but not P2P counterparty risk.

Error Correction

Update Schedule

Rankings are reviewed at minimum quarterly and following significant changes in platform fee structures, regulatory status, or operational incidents. The "Last updated" date on the main ranking page reflects the most recent review.
